Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (1670 Pte., 2/Manch. R.); Khedive’s Star, 1882, rev. engraved, ‘1670Bn. M. Cockrane (sic), 2/Manch. R.’, this last lacking suspension loop, edge bruising, contact marks, nearly very fine (2) £80-100

Michael Cockran was born in Plymouth, Devon and enlisted into the 96th Foot on 9 May 1871, aged 14 years, 6 months. He served with the regiment in the East Indies, May 1871-December 1873, Malta, March 1881-August 1882 and Egypt, August 1882-November 1882. He died in Aldershot, while still in the service, on 22 February 1888. Sold with copied service papers and extracts from medal roll.
