Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Defence of Kimberley, Relief of Mafeking, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (1197 Pte. W. Johnson, Kimberley Vol. Regt.) good very fine £400-450

1197 Private W. Johnson, Kimberley Regiment, was wounded at Christiana, 28 February 1902; ‘slightly’ according to the published casualty roll; ‘severely’ according to other research. On ‘Kimberley Town Guard’ roll for Defence of Kimberley clasp; on ‘Kimberley Light Horse’ roll for Relief of Mafeking clasp; on ‘Kimberley Volunteers’ roll for other clasps. Johnson also served in the Cape Railway Sharpshooters as No.1260 and in the Railway Division of the British South Africa Police as No.1425. Sold with copied research.
