Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Chilianwala, Goojerat (J. C. Elderkin, 3rd Lt. Dragns.) slight edge bruising, very fine £380-420

J. Charles Elderkin was born in Chelsea. A servant by occupation, he enlisted into the 3rd Light Dragoons on 8 October 1844. He served with them in both First and Second Sikh Wars, being awarded the Sutlej Medal for Aliwal with clasp for Sobraon and the Punjab medal with two clasps. He volunteered for the 12th Lancers at Hounslow in August 1855. He served with them in India and was invalided from Calcutta to England in February 1859.
