D.C.M. London Gazette 25 April 1941. The original recommendation states:

‘On 10 December 1940, Corporal Richardson was a Sub.-Section Commander in the Carrier Platoon. In the attack on an enemy position near Sidi Barrani he led his carrier with great courage in the face of heavy fire. He went straight for an enemy M.G. post and destroyed it totally with grenades. Throughout the battle he behaved with great determination.’

Thomas Smith Richardson was serving in the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, a component of 16th Infantry Brigade, 4th Indian Division, at the time of the above related deeds.
