Charles William Saddington was born in and enlisted at Leicester. Serving initially as Private 3639 in the Leicestershire Yeomanry and then in the 1/4th Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 22 April 1917, aged 29 years. The husband of Agnes Saddington of 71 Evington Street, Leicester, he was buried in the Mazingarbe Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France; the medals in (damaged) card box of issue, with forwarding slip, in (damaged) registered envelope addressed to his wife.
