Harry Tudor, a member of the 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, died on 21 September 1944, while a P.O.W. of the Japanese - the regimental roll notes ‘PLS’ alongside his name and is believed to signify that he was actually lost at sea, a fate not unknown to prisoners who were often transported in shocking conditions aboard enemy vessels vulnerable to Allied attack. The son of George and Clara Tudor of Rodington, Shropshire, he was 31 years of age and is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.
