Percy Valentine Lewis, a member of the 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, died on the 2 July 1943, while a P.O.W. of the Japanese - almost certainly as a result of being forced to work on the notorious “Railway of Death”. The son of John and Beatrice Lewis of Cardiff, he was 26 years of age, and is buried in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, Thailand.
