William James Montgomery was born in Coventry and lived and enlisted at Nottingham. Serving with “C” Squadron, the South Nottinghamshire Hussars, he was killed in action, in Gallipoli, on 12 September 1915, aged 23 years. The son of Mr and Mrs H. Montgomery of 1 Sophie Road, Nottingham; he was buried in the Green Hill Cemetery, Turkey.
