William Wilton was born and lived in St. Cleer, near Liskeard, Cornwall and enlisted at Bodmin. Serving with the 6th Battalion Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, he was killed in action in France/Flanders on 8 December 1915, aged 20 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
