Shiu Tahal Singh entered the Indian Army in October 1878 and saw service in Afghanistan (Medal) and Burma 1885-87 (Medal and clasp). Appointed Subadar in the Army in December 1894, he joined the 2nd Queen’s Own Rajput Light Infantry in May 1898 and served with them in the China campaign of 1900 (Medal).
