Apollo and Marsyes, oval bronze plaque, standing figure of Apollo, bearded figure, hands bound, child kneeling in front, c. 40mm x 36mm. About very fine (£20-25)

Probably from a piece of furniture. Whether or not the piece relates to the story of Marsyes who challenged Apollo to a musical contest, lost and was flayed to death as a punishment, is uncertain. The attribution to Germany is also tentative.
