Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), Penny, Chester, Ælfsige, ielfs on legeee:, variety with helmeted bust, legend commences at 12 o’clock, 1.31g/2h (Freeman 20; N 831/4; S 1184). Very fine with attractive golden grey tone, the variety extremely rare (£400-500)
