Penang, Anderson and Clubley, Tin Pice, 1809, a & c 1809 within plain circle and countermarked with Chinese character (Mei = beautiful, good or fine), rev. blank, 40mm, 25.44g (Prid. 23; KM. 10). Very fine and excessively rare (£1,000-1,200)

The Governor of Penang in 1809 was Col. Norman Macalister; these coins bear the initials of the Lieutenant Governors, J. Anderson and W.A. Clubley. For further information see Pridmore, SNC 1977, pp.46-7. The Pridmore specimen sold for £2,500 in 1982
