James III (1460-1488), Groat, Edinburgh, mm. cross on obv., cross fleury on rev., crowned bust in mantle half-left, annulet on inner circle at 9 o’clock, rev. annulet and three pellets in first and fourth quarters, crown in second and third quarters, 3.16g/5h (cf. SCBI 35, 775, 777-8; cf. B 45a; S 5287). Portrait a little smoothed, otherwise very fine with grey tone (£350-400)
