Elizabeth II (1952-, Elizabeth II, Trial for the reverse of the hexagonal Fifty Pence [1971], by C. Ironside, in cupro-nickel, obv. blank, rev. Viking ship, no legend, edge plain, 30mm, 12.69g. Matt centre, pierced and with some minor rim nicks, otherwise very fine and extremely rare (£50-100)

It is understood the piercing was made to facilitate hanging on a board, so that Christopher Ironside could review his designs
