Henry Potez (1891-1981) entered the Sup’Aéro school in 1911 and, with Marcel Bloch, founded the SEA company in 1916 to manufacture the SEA 4, later renamed as the Potez 7. Potez then set up his own company in Aubervilliers, which later relocated to Levallois and then Méaulte. In all, his company built 7,000 civil and military aircraft. Following nationalisation in 1936, the Potez plants were integrated into SNCAN, with Potez himself as chairman. Following the War, he developed the Potez 75 ground attack aircraft and the Potez 840 four-engine turboprop transport aircraft, built at the Argenteuil plant where Potez engines were manufactured
