France, Sympathie, 1916, a silver-gilt uniface plaque by E. Marioton, robed female seated left with branch of a tree, back engraved (À Mr E. Guillou, à MMe Guillou, nos Voeux et nos Sympathies, Marioton, 1916), 98 x 68mm. Very fine and very rare (£120-150)

Illustrated on the Plates. Eugène Marioton (1857-1933), sculptor and medallist from Paris, enjoyed a wide reputation and was a regular exhibitor at the Salon from 1882
