Millennium of the Founding of Oxford, 1912, a bronze medal by C.W. Thomas, allegorical figures of Past and Present hold aloft an hour-glass, rev. view of the old walled city, 51mm (BHM 4094; E 1932; BM Acq. 1978-82, p.87, 146). Extremely fine (£40-60)

Reverse only illustrated. The millennary was celebrated in July 1912; the bronze medals were sold by Payne & Sons, silversmiths, Oxford, for 4s. 6d., or 5s. cased
