70th Birthday of Hermann Weber, 1893, a large gilt-bronze medal by A. Dubois and F. Bowcher, bust almost full-face, rev. seven naked infant children and floral wreath encircling legend with his age, 140mm (Storer 3744; Parkes Weber 83-4; BDM I, 632). Reverse damaged in centre where once mounted for display, otherwise very fine and a handsome work, very rare (£150-180)

Obverse only illustrated on the Plates but at a reduced size. An enlarged version of the smaller struck medal, cast by the Parisian founder E. Gruet Jr. Sir Hermann Weber (1823-1918), physician and noted collector of Greek coins
