Geerts, bust of Hygeia left, rev. wreath border, named (Awarded to Jeyes Sanitary Compounds Company Limited, London, 1883), 60 x 57mm. Has been cleaned in the past, otherwise very fine, attractive (£40-60)

Obverse only illustrated, reduced. The Jeyes business was originally founded by John Jeyes, who first patented a disinfectant fluid in 1877 which is still marketed today as Jeyes Fluid. Jeyes was granted the royal warrant in 1896. Jeyes products are widely used in household and industrial cleaning and germ-killing situations. The company was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes in 1972 but since then has been through several changes of ownership, culminating in a management buy-out in 2002
