Education: England and Wales, West Bromwich, Municipal Science & Technical School, Whiteley Medal, bronze award medals by Elkington (2), seated figures of Justice and Mercury, view of Hardraw Force waterfall in central cartouche, revs. legend, named (Eric J. Wilson, 1938-39; Alan J. Roberts), both 64mm; West Bromwich Secondary School, William Poulton Medal, a bronze medal, unsigned, winged figure of Science holding torch, rev. legend in 8 lines, edge named (1911, H. Vincent Overfield), 63mm [3]. Last about extremely fine and dark-toned, others extremely fine or better, all rare (£80-100)

The Whiteley medal was founded by Richard Lloyd Whiteley, FIC, principal of the school for many years, and was awarded annually to the best student of the session. Hardraw Force, at over 100 feet England’s highest waterfall, is located near Hawes, in Wensleydale, N Yorkshire
