Railways, Midland Railway, c. 1850, an oval mother-of-pearl Free Ticket, crest, rev. named (Lieut. Col. G.M. Hutton), 35 x 25mm (cf. Millett FPL 2005, 99). Extremely fine and very rare; pierced for suspension (£250-350)

Lt-Col George Morland Hutton, 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regt. The Midland Railway was formed in 1844 by the merger of the Midland Counties Railway, the North Midland Railway and the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway. It owned a large network of railway lines centred on Derby and the East Midlands
