Byzantine Empire, Basil II (976-1025), Histamenon, Constantinople, nimbate facing bust of Christ, holding Gospels, rosettes in arms of nimbus, rev. half-length crowned busts of Basil II and Constantine VIII, holding patriarchal cross-crosslet between them, hand of God above Basil, 4.37g/6h (DOC 4; Sear 1798). Flan a trifle crimped, otherwise good very fine (£150-200)
