James McKenna served during the Great War with the 6th (Service) Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers in the French theatre of war from 11 May 1915. He subsequently transferred to the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

Walter Brown was the son of Mr W. Brown of Vine, Great Bardfield, Braintree, Essex. He served during the Great War with the 9th (Service) Battalion, Essex Regiment in the French theatre of war from 30 May 1915. Private Brown died of wounds on the Western Front, 21 January 1916, and is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
