William John Enever was born in Gosport, Hampshire and attested for the Royal Field Artillery at Purbrook, Hampshire. He served during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 October 1914 before later service in Mesopotamia, and died of wounds on 8 September 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
