Ernest Sidney Claxton, a native of Wymondham, Norfolk, attested for the Essex Regiment and served with the 3rd Battalion during the Great War in the Balkans theatre of War from 9 October 1915. He died at home of influenza on 27 October 1918 and is buried under a C.W.G.C. headstone in Wymondham Cemetery.
