William Reeves Bunbury was born in 1839 and attested for the 82nd Regiment of Foot in 1858 . He transferred to the Bengal Staff Corps in 1866 and was Promoted Major in 1878, seeing active service during the Second Afghan War with the Commissariat Department of the Kurram Field Force. Appointed Assistant Commissary General First Class in 1884, and Colonel, Indian Staff Corps in 1888, he retired in 1896 and died in 1906.
