Malcolm McIver was born on Stornoway on 19 September 1888 and joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 9 March 1907. During the Great War he served in D.E.M.S. vessels, H.M.S. Pembroke, and M.F.A. Edinburgh Castle. He was demobilised on January 1919. He was awarded the Royal Naval Reserve Long Service medal in 1921, but his service record is noted that it was returned “not called for”.

John Gray was born at Aberdeen on 21 December 1890 and joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 4 September 1914. During the Great War he served in H.M.S. Halcyon, H.M.S. Cleopatra, S.S. Nairn and S.S. Thalia. He was demobilised at Cromarty on 22 January 1919.
