Korea; Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 2nd issue (MX. 53571, B.E.M., O.A. 1, H.M.S. Alacrity), mounted as worn, the eighth with minor official correction, good very fine and better (10) £500-600

B.E.M. London Gazette 1 January 1951. The original recommendation states:

‘For three years Chief Petty Officer Saloway has led the party responsible for cocooning the armament of all the ships in the Portsmouth Division of the Reserve Fleet. At all times and in all weathers he has personally supervised the work of his men and it is largely due to his enthusiasm, loyalty and initiative that this difficult and highly specialised work has been so well excecuted and such good progress made in the heavy programme of work.’

John Edward Soloway was actually attached to the submarine depot ship H.M.S. Adamant at the time of being recommended for the above award.
