Gordon Tucker Phillips was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the 18th Battalion Middlesex Regiment in June 1896 and attained the rank of Captain with the regiment in May 1902. Resigning from the 18th Middlesex in November 1906, he was commissioned a Lieutenant in 2nd Volunteer Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry in March 1907 and again attained the rank of Captain in December 1911 only for him to resign his commission the following year. With the outbreak of war, Phillips given the temporary rank of Captain with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and seconded for duty with a garrison battalion. Promoted Captain in July 1917 he was seconded for service with the Labour Corps in December of that year. Returning to his parent regiment in February 1918, he served with the 6th Battalion (Carnarvonshire & Anglesey) as Courts Martial Officer. Awarded the T.D. (London Gazette 4 November 1919), Phillips relinquished his commission in September 1921. Sold with copied research.
