James Cunningham Blackley was the son of Catherine C. and the late James Blackley of Mannerston, Linlithgow and enlisted in Linlithgow, Wales. He served originally with the Army Service Corps as Private 6200 before being transferred to the 22nd Battalion (Tyneside Scottish) Northumberland Fusiliers. Serving with them as Private 56177 he died of wounds on 27 November 1917, aged 32 years. He was interred in the St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen.
