George Ives was born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire and enlisted into the Bedfordshire Regiment in 1889. He served with the regiment in the relief of Chitral moperations of 1895 and was transferred to the Army Reserve in 1898. Recalled for service in the Boer War, he served in South Africa from December 1899 to August 1902 when he was discharged. Sold with copied service papers.
