Nur Alam enlisted in 1886 and rose to become Subadar-Major. On retirement in 1917, he was appointed Honorary Captain, having been awarded the Order of British India, 2nd Class in 1911 and 1st Class in 1915. According to Indian Army Lists, he also had the medal for Punjab Frontier 1897-98 & Malakand 1897, and the 1914-15 Star Trio for service in East Africa with 28 Mountain Battery in 1914. With M.I.D. London Gazette 7 April 1917. Also entitled to the Delhi Durbar Medal 1911. Sold with service details.
