Military General Service 1793-1814, 4 clasps, Vittoria, St. Sebastian, Nivelle, Nive (S. Armstrong, Serjeant 59th Foot); Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Bhurtpoor (S. Armstrong, Serjt. 59th Foot) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, nearly extremely fine and a scarce pair (2) £3000-3500

Ex Murray Collection 1882. 24 Peninsula/Army of India pairs to the regiment, 4 clasps being the maximum for the Peninsula.

Simon Armstrong was born at Killay, Templemore, Tipperary, Ireland, circa 1780, and enlisted into the 59th at Birr on 26 August 1808. He was discharged in the rank of Sergeant on 29 August 1828 ‘being in attendance on Lieut.-Colonel McGregor, C.B., on his passage to England,’ and ‘being asthmatic and worn out, not requiring medical treatment.’ Sold with copy discharge papers.
