Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (425 Lce. Sergt. W. J. Horner, Bedf. Regt.) slight edge bruise, good very fine £60-80

William John Horner was born in Butterant, County Cork and enlisted into the 2nd Battalion 16th Regiment in 1858 as a Drummer Boy, aged 14 years. With the regiment he served overseas in British North America, December 1861-May 1866, the West Indies, May 1866-February 1869 and the East Indies, February 1876-April 1886. Awarded the Army L.S.& G.C. with £5 gratuity in 1882, he was discharged in April 1886. Sold with copied service papers.
