A 2nd Engineer of the Mercantile Marine, by the name of James Thomson, was killed aboard the S.S. Agnette on 24 April 1918, when that vessel was torpedoed four miles off Start Point, Devon. He was 62 years of age and left a widow resident in Sunderland.
