Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 7 clasps, Belmont, Modder River, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast (9391 Pte. R. Gray, Scots Gds.) worn £200-240

Robert Gray, the son of James and Janet Gray, was born in Biggar, Lanarkshire. In the Boer War he served with the 1st Scots Guards and was wounded at Modder River on 28 November 1899. Serving with the same unit he died of wounds on 21 November 1914. He was interred in Kortrijk Communal Cemetery, Belgium.
