Edwin Bell was appointed Temporary Engineer on 11 June 1878, and Engineer on 11 June 1884. He transferred as Engineer to the Permanent List on 29 July 1893 and retired on 14 May 1898. Served as Engineer (temporary) of Sultan at the bombardment of Alexandria, 11th July, 1882, and during the Egyptian war.
