Frank Reuben Williams served as a Trumpeter in the 8th Hussars in France and Flanders from 1914-1917 - his MIC entry states that he arrived in France on 11 November 1914, while later Army List entries state that he commenced his service in that theatre of war on 5 October 1914. He was subsequently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Lincolnshire Regiment and returned to active duty in France in September 1918.
