Accompanying notes suggest that this might be one of just 80 1914-15 Trios so inscribed, the vast majority of which were awarded to dockyard workers who accompanied a Royal Naval ship to sea for a minimum of 28 days (for full details see the Journal of the Orders and Medals Research Society, No. 187, 1985, pp. 102-5).
