, dated reverse, no clasp (Sign. 2 Cl., H.M.S. Thalia); Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (M.A.A., H.M.S. Vivid), impressed naming, the first with minor contact marks, otherwise nearly extremely fine (2) £120-150

John Addems was born at Ashburton, Devon in June 1863 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in September 1879. His sole experience of active service in his subsequent career of 21 years was as a Signalman 2nd Class in the Thalia during the Egypt operations of 1882, when that ship was present off Ismailia in August of that year. Advanced to Master at Arms in May 1895, he was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in April 1901 and was pensioned ashore in the following June.
