2nd Battalion Herefordshire Volunteer Infantry (18031808), a fine and rare officer’s first pattern shako plate in die-stamped copper gilt a crowned title circle ‘Second Herefordshire Volunteer’ enclose the Royal Arms of Great Britain 1801-13, two copper loop fasteners, the front of the plate has regretably been recently replated the reverse shows the true colour, otherwise excellent condition £300-400

Note: Both City battalions of volunteer infantry were under the nominal command of Colonel John G Cotterell and were raised 24 October 1803, Lt.Col Thomas Powell commanded the 2nd Battalion.
