Silver Cigarette Case, the outer lid inscribed ‘Alfred & Rose 1919’, the gilded interior inscribed ‘In memory of Captain Claude Furze, L.R.B., killed in France, 6th April 1918. Devoted service 1914/1918’; together with three other cigarette cases, comprising, one with Middlesex Hussars badge to outer lid, this in electro-plate; another in brass, with Great War period Iron Cross, 2nd Class inset into lid; and another, again in brass with applied enamelled badge of the A.S.C., and inscribed ‘118 Coy. Inf. Div. Tps., R.A.S.C., Germany 1945’, the outer back cover inscribed with map of Germany, some dents and polishing, otherise good condition (4) £60-80

Captain Claude Furze died of wounds in France and Flanders on 6 April 1918, whilst serving with the 1/5th Battalion, London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade). He is buried at Forceville Communal Cemetery, France.
