Napoleonic War Interest, a very interesting two and a quarter page letter written by a prisoner of war, one Peter Aubie Bussell to his sister in Weymouth Dorset dated 6 January 1814, Amiens, it mainly deals with details of his incarceration and family matters, presuambly he was by now a widower as there is a special section addressed to his children. The cover bears the frank of the ‘Transport Office/Prisoners of War’ , a French franking and is addressed to Mr John Butler East Street Weymouth Dorset, a few very minor tears and creasing but in very good condition for its age £50-70

Attached reasearch notes indicate that Bussell 91173-1850) was Master and part owner of the sloop The Dove, Weymouth. During a voyage from Weymouth to London he was captured 22 February 1806 by the French privateer Les Deux Freres and imprisoned by the French until April 1814. He kept a diary during his imprisonment which was published only in 1931.
