A mounted group of twelve miniature dress medals representative of those worn by Brigadier L. M. Campbell, V.C., D.S.O., O.B.E., Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, comprising: Victoria Cross; Distinguished Service Order, G.VI.R., with Second Award Bar; Order of the British Empire (Military); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star, with ‘8’ riband fitment; Italy Star; War Medal, M.I.D. oak leaf; Coronation 1937; Coronation 1953; Jubilee 1977; Efficiency Decoration, G.VI.R.; American Legion of Merit, with gilt Officers’ riband fitment, mounted court-style, generally good very fine £80-100

Lorne Maclaine Campbell was awarded the V.C. for his great bravery at Wadi Akarit in April 1943, when his personal influence - under constant close-range enemy fire - changed the tide of battle. In the words of the London Gazette, his ‘magnificent leadership’ could ‘seldom have been surpassed in the long history of the Highland Brigade.’
