Margaret Williams was born on 20 July 1878 and educated at Malvern House School, Reading. She trained at the General Hospital, Hereford, from September 1899 to September 1902 when she was appointed a Staff Nurse. She left for Addenbrokke’s Hospital, Cambridge in 1903 where she worked until October 1904. She was ppointed Staff Nurse in the Q.A.I.M.N.S. in May 1905 and was advanced to Sister in April 1912. In the Great War, she disembarked in France on 12 August 1914 for service with No.6 General Hospital and was later with No.14 Stationary Hospital at Boulogne as Acting Matron. For her wartime services she was awarded the R.R.C. and twice mentioned in despatches. She retired from the service in 1933 and died on 24 November 1978, aged 100 years. Sold with copied research.
