A Second World War A.F.C. group of three awarded to Acting Squadron Leader D. M. Egan, Royal Air Force

, G.VI.R., reverse officially dated ‘1942’, in its Royal Mint case of issue; War Medal 1939-45; Royal Air Force L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue (Act. Sqn. Ldr., R.A.F.), this last in its original card presentation box, the lid ink inscribed as per the medal’s naming, extremely fine (3) £800-1000

A.F.C. London Gazette 1 January 1942. The original recommendation states:

‘This flying instructor has carried out a total of 2,900 hours flying and had been instructing for three and half years. He has 1,000 hours instructional flying to his credit and has consistently turned out exceptionally good pilots. He has worked extremely hard and his ability as an organiser is no less than that as an instructor.’

Dermot Mitchell Egan was decorated for his services at No. 2 Central Flying School.
