M.B.E. London Gazette 14 June 1945. Captain (acting) John Glassford McMillan, Union Defence Forces.

John Glassford McMillan was born in Glasgow on 12 January 1903. In May 1940, as a resident of East London, South Africa and a fitter with South African Railways, he volunteered for military service. He was appointed Temporary Lieutenant in July 1943 and Temporary Captain in December 1944. He served with the S.A.E.C. in Egypt, June 1941 - August 1942, with the S.A.E.C. in Palestine and Syria, November 1942 - August 1944 and with the Royal Engineers in the Western Desert, September 1944 - June 1945. McMillan was released from military service in July 1945 and resumed his employment with the S.A.R. Sold with copied service papers.
