Major Frederic Maxwell Carpendale was born on 9 July 1887 and was educted at Malvern College and Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He received his commission into the Indian Army on 9 July 1887 and during the Great War served with the 42nd Deoli Regiment in Mesopotamia from 27 July 1916, and subsequently in North West Persia from 21 April 1920 to 25 May 1921. During the Second War he served as Deputy Assistant Adjutant General, Aldershot Command, 1939-41. Major Carpendale died on 6 December 1958.
