British War and Victory Medals (Major); Territorial Force War Medal 1914-19 (Major, R.A.); together with related memorial plaque (Frederick Hardess Chaplin); illuminated memorial scroll; and Buckingham Palace letter, all contained in a contemporary leather covered hinged display case, nearly extremely fine (4) £300-350

Major Frederick Hardess Chaplin died ‘by his guns’ in France and Flanders on 27 May 1916 of heart failure at Ypres, whilst serving with the 154th (Hampshire) Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, aged 43. He is buried at Brandhoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
